A novel and new concept combining golf, food and fun located in the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach.
By Bruce Meyer
There’s a new golf-themed restaurant in town, Hackers at Hilltop! This concept is the creation of Edward Ore, the owner of Great Neck Doggie Daycare (where Dr. Keppie Meyer’s office is located). This is not your ordinary golf-themed restaurant. This restaurant is huge and contains seven Golf Bays and one very large VIP Golf Room. These Bays feature state-of-the-art massive golf simulators. You can select from one of their 85 golf courses around the world, driving range mode or miniature golf mode. Of course, you can enjoy Hackers’ delicious gourmet meals in your Bay. The Bays can double for watching professional sports, such as football and basketball.
Speaking of food, you do not have to play golf to enjoy a delicious meal. Hackers at Hilltop serves a large comprehensive menu – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and is open 7 days a week. Their food is presented via a golf-themed menu.
Breakfast! You could order their “Shotgun” – two eggs any style and two buttermilk pancakes served with your choice of bacon or sausage. One of their famous dishes is the “Breakfast Ball”. It is a peanut butter, grape jelly sandwich dipped in their French toast batter, fried and topped with whipped cream and warm maple syrup, served with bacon or sausage. They also serve Chicken and Waffles named the “Range Session”. My favorite is the “Afternoon Delight.” This dish will satisfy your carb and sugar allotment for the week in one sitting. It is a Belgian waffle on top of a pancake, cooked in French toast batter and topped with whipped cream, berries, powdered sugar and warm maple syrup, served with your choice of bacon or sausage. I am full just writing this review! Of course, they also serve standard breakfast items such as eggs and omelets if you do not feel adventurous.
Lunch and Dinner! Hackers at Hilltop offers an extensive and varied menu including many delicious meals. Ten Starters include a great Charcuterie Board, 5 Wood Nachos, 7 Iron wings, Hybrid soft pretzel served with beer cheese, spicy brown mustard and honey cinnamon butter and more. Of course, they also serve numerous soups and salads. You cannot go wrong.
Now for the Main Course! If you love slow cooked brisket, then you want to order the “Happy Gilmore”. If you are in the mood for a Cuban sandwich, then order the “Lacey Underall”. Their burgers are all “Caddy Shack” themed. Just reading the menu is worth it. Dishes such as “Judge Smails” – beef patty, buttered lobster, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato on a brioche bun, looks amazing. Another is the “Ty Webb” – beef patty, pork belly, buffalo onion strings, pickled jalapeno, Monterey jack cheese on a brioche bun. There are many other themed burgers offered as well. Did someone say Pizza? Yes, Hackers at Hilltop offers many options from which to choose and they are all delicious.
They also offer a large Tapas menu featuring steak, scallops, pasta, and seared salmon to name a few. Hackers at Hilltop does include vegetarian meals as well. Finally, do not forget Dessert! From Key Lime Pie to Carrot Cake to Lemon Blueberry Tiramisu, they have a great selection to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Now after you have enjoyed a great meal and maybe played some golf, walk on over to their large Private Cigar Lounge. Yes, Hackers at Hilltop is a Cigar-friendly establishment! That said, it is on the back left side of the building with state-of-the-art ventilation systems. If you are in the main part of the restaurant, you would never know there is a cigar lounge located on the premises.
Hackers has it all! Great Golf, Great Food, Great Drinks and a Private Cigar Lounge. Everything you would need for an outstanding experience with colleagues, friends or family!
