It could be driving, hygiene, eating fresh food, etc. Some of the biggest issues happen during the winter season to seniors.  Here are some tips to keep everyone safe. The depths of winter may seem far off... but evening temperatures are already starting to drop. We have seen some of our first frosts! While it is always beautiful to see the leaves change and snow on the ground, one must remember that the winter season can be dangerous, especially for seniors in our community. Long-term care insurance: Advice for you and my aging parents When I started working in Home Care over 10 years ago, very few seniors had a long-term care policy that paid for their care. In 2019 over one-third of our clients had their care paid through their long-term care insurance policy.  Many do not pay any out-of-pocket expenses for their caregiver. What a change in the industry and what a great benefit! Long-term care insurance was created because Medicare and other traditional insurances do not pay for hourly Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support. By Connie Meyer The youngest of Freddie’s grandchildren, my niece, got married a few months ago.  This young woman is truly special- as beautiful on the inside as she is out, her generosity of spirit and ability to sense what makes others feel at ease, reminds me exactly of her grandfather, my dad, Freddie.   As the preparations began for her wedding, there was no question that my sister would ensure the setting would be beautiful, the food delicious, the music lyrical, and the ceremony meaningful.   When I first heard the news of the young couple’s engagement, one line I’d heard Freddie say my whole life, over and over to friends and family alike, popped into my mind- “I’ll dance at your wedding”.  When I was younger, I couldn’t really understand what he mean...
